It was unexpected, and a little extraordinary.

On January 20, 2024, I had a dream that felt so unusual that I made a note of it as soon as I woke up. I wanted to preserve the details and the strange experience I had in the dream.

Here is what I recorded that morning.

I dreamed that I had become a Spider-Man-like being.

But I don’t mean the familiar superhero from Spider-Man. In my dream, these beings looked more or less like ordinary humans, except that they had multiple black eyeballs.

Every spider-like being in the dream gave me a dose of a special liquid. I used a syringe to put the liquid into my eyes, and within moments, the drops were absorbed.

Not long afterward, I gained an extraordinary ability: I could communicate directly with anyone through thought, without speaking or using any language at all.

All I had to do was send out a signal to someone nearby, almost like a brainwave, and a private mental connection would instantly form between us.

What made this ability even more remarkable was that the communication worked both ways.

The other person could receive the thoughts in my mind directly, and I could perceive their thoughts just as clearly. This wasn’t a matter of reading facial expressions, analyzing someone’s tone of voice, or guessing what they might be thinking. It was a direct reception of information from another person’s mind.

Whether the thoughts were good or bad, kind or malicious, they could be transmitted directly. There was no need to consciously control the process, and it wasn’t necessarily subject to either person’s wishes. Once the connection was established, our genuine thoughts would be laid bare to one another.

The ability also allowed me to control the range of communication.

For example, within a radius of 50 kilometers, I could instantly share my thoughts with any spider-like being I had already established a connection with. They would receive those thoughts just as quickly. There would be no need for explanations, no room for guesswork, and no misunderstandings caused by an inability to express something clearly in words.

It meant that communication between people would be transformed completely.

Language would no longer be essential for communication, and distance would no longer be an obstacle. Thoughts that people normally kept deep inside, struggled to put into words, or deliberately concealed from others could potentially be transmitted directly into someone else’s mind.

From that moment on, the human mind would be laid bare.

That was the dream I recorded at 5:55 a.m. on January 20, 2024.

Today, I watched a film called Chaos Walking, a science-fiction adventure film released in 2021.

Until now, I had never watched it—not even a clip.

I came across the film by chance while looking for movies featuring Mads Mikkelsen. I noticed Chaos Walking, became curious, and decided to watch it.

What I didn’t expect was that, after watching it, I would suddenly remember the dream I had more than two years earlier.

Chaos Walking is set in the distant future. After humans settle on a planet called New World, the men there are affected by a strange phenomenon that causes their thoughts to become perceptible to others through sounds, images, and other visible or audible manifestations. In the film, this phenomenon is known as the Noise.

The Noise is more than just ordinary sound. It is an external manifestation of a person’s inner world. Fleeting thoughts, emotions, fragments of memories, and even things someone would rather keep to themselves can emerge in forms that other people can perceive.

In such a world, it becomes extremely difficult to keep one’s inner thoughts private.

Someone might say one thing while their actual thoughts reveal something entirely different. Even without deliberately expressing themselves, they may inadvertently expose what is going through their mind. Communication between people is no longer limited to spoken language; it extends into a more direct and much harder-to-conceal realm of thought.

What truly surprised me was how closely this central concept in the film resembled something I had experienced in my dream two years earlier.

As I watched the film, a sudden realization struck me: the scenes in which people’s thoughts become exposed and their inner worlds are perceived by others bore a striking resemblance to the ability I had dreamed about on January 20, 2024.

Of course, the two were not exactly the same.

The Noise in the film is more like an involuntary exposure of one’s thoughts. A person’s inner activity manifests itself through sounds, images, and other perceptible forms, allowing others to hear or see what is going on in their mind.

The ability in my dream, by contrast, was more like a mental network through which people could deliberately establish connections with one another.

In my dream, I could not only receive other people’s thoughts but also actively transmit my own to specific individuals. I could communicate with people nearby, but I could also extend these connections across a radius of 50 kilometers. I could perceive what someone was thinking and receive information directly from their mind, without the need for verbal expression, inference, or guesswork.

If the Noise in the film represents thoughts involuntarily spilling out into the open, then the ability in my dream takes this idea a step further. It imagines a world in which thoughts can be shared through connections that are selective, range-limited, and capable of transmitting information in both directions.

The most striking similarity is that both scenarios break down the invisible barrier that separates one person’s inner world from another’s.

In real life, we cannot directly know what another person is thinking.

We rely on words, facial expressions, gestures, and behavior to interpret someone’s true intentions. Even when speaking face-to-face, misunderstandings, concealment, deception, and completely conflicting interpretations are all possible.

But in the world depicted by the film and the one I experienced in my dream, these barriers seem to disappear.

A person no longer has to rely solely on spoken words to express themselves. Instead, they can connect with someone else directly through thought. Things that would normally remain hidden deep within the mind can become accessible to another person.

If people could truly transmit their thoughts directly to one another, would our understanding of communication, trust, privacy, and even human nature itself have to be redefined?

That is why watching this film brought the dream back to me so vividly.

What I find so fascinating is not that I believe the film proves the ability in my dream actually exists. Rather, it is the unexpected resonance between two experiences separated by more than two years.

At 5:55 a.m. on January 20, 2024, I recorded the details of my dream.

At the time, I had no idea that I would eventually watch Chaos Walking, nor did I know that the film would portray a concept of exposed thoughts so similar to what I had dreamed about.

It was only today, while searching for films featuring Mads Mikkelsen, that I happened to discover Chaos Walking and was reminded of a memory from more than two years ago.

Without that original note, I might have forgotten the specific details of the dream altogether. Because I had written them down, however, I could revisit the experience today and clearly compare the similarities between the two.

There is something genuinely fascinating about an experience like this: a dream recorded more than two years ago, a film discovered entirely by chance, and an unexpected connection between the two that suddenly resurfaced in my mind.

That is why I decided to record the experience once again.

From that moment on, the human mind would be laid bare.

Those words remain the most unforgettable impression left by that dream two years ago.

At 5:55 a.m. on January 20, 2024, I recorded the dream.

On October 20, 2026, I remembered it again because of Chaos Walking.

How extraordinary.

It was unexpected, and a little extraordinary.
